Meet Our Best Brightening Primer: Cloud Glow Priming Foam

Puff. Prime. Glow.

Face primers are important to us. We love creating super sensorial, finish-based products that lock in your makeup all day long. Now, we’re adding our best brightening primer to our award-winning collection, and it’s nothing short of a daydream come true.

Meet Cloud Glow Priming Foam: a foam brightening primer that brings out your skin’s natural glow with just one pump. Like Hydro Grip Primer (which goes on with a dewy finish) and Pore Eclipse Mattifying Primer, Cloud Glow smooths your base and locks makeup in place for up to 12 hours.

Our new brightening primer is the ultimate solution for giving dull, tired skin a fresh, healthy glow. Best of all, it touts a playfully airy texture that took us over a year and 12 revisions to fine-tune. “Cloud Glow is amazing for the minimalist,” says Sara Wren, Milk Makeup’s Director of Artistry. “It does the most, so you can do the least. It helps prep skin, hydrate, and boost radiance.”

Below, our experts share why Cloud Glow Priming Foam is our best brightening primer, what it’s formulated with, and how to add it to your makeup routine, stat.

What is a foam brightening primer?

Imagine if your favorite foaming hand soap was a makeup primer—and not just any primer, a brightening primer that makes even the most lackluster skin glow.

Foam brightening primer acts as an ultra-lightweight last step of your skincare routine and the first step of your makeup look to help you achieve your brightest, smoothest, most hydrated complexion. It’s also super fun to use in the process.

Cloud Glow Priming Foam, in particular, feels as breathable and featherlight on skin as its dreamy cloud-like texture. Fun fact: We pulled inspo for this primer from the technology used in the foaming hand soap that doctors use to quickly and easily clean every nook and cranny before procedures.

Plus, the illuminating primer floats over skin to not only instantly amplify its natural glow but also prep it for smooth, seamless makeup application. Cloud Glow’s foam consistency is also the key to it never settling into fine lines and wrinkles.

What does brightening primer do?

Brightening primer’s main goal is to make your face glow. Many do so with shimmer or glitter. Cloud Glow, however, doesn’t have any of the sparkly stuff. Instead, our brightening primer uses skin-caring ingredients that bring down redness, elevate hydration, and even skin tone. As a result, skin looks brighter instantly and over time with continued use, Sara points out.

Cloud Glow Priming Foam’s star ingredient is turmeric extract, which reveals your skin’s natural radiance without any irritation. The antioxidant-rich spice also helps diminish dullness, banish breakouts, and revitalize skin. Turmeric is joined by saffron extract to reduce redness, as well as apricot extract that helps moisturize and nourish dry skin.

Wu zhu yu extract also makes an appearance in Cloud Glow Priming Foam. For those unfamiliar with this healing Chinese herb, it creates a stimulating effect on skin’s microcirculation to further boost radiance, reduce inflammation, and decrease discoloration.

Just like our other primers, Cloud Glow is also clean, vegan, cruelty-free, silicone-free and non-comedogenic. We formulated the brightening primer without oils, parabens, silicone, or synthetic fragrances, too.

Which primer is best for dull skin?

Although Cloud Glow Priming Foam is suitable for all skin types, our best illuminating primer truly shines—literally and figuratively—when used on dull skin of any skin tone. It’s infused with brightness-boosting ingredients specifically for ditching dullness and making skin look naturally incandescent. It also packs intense hydration and redness reducers to bring skin to a healthy, happy equilibrium, so it can shine bright tonight, tomorrow, and all month long on its own.

How do I use a brightening primer, like Cloud Glow Priming Foam?

Brightening primer works best on a pure canvas, when it’s the first step of your makeup routine. In the case of Cloud Glow, add just one pump to the back of your hand, and massage it directly onto your face with your fingertips, says Ari Adams. Let it dry down for about 60 seconds, and then you can proceed with the rest of your makeup application with a smoother, brighter canvas. It pairs beautifully with Future Fluid All Over Cream Concealer, as well as the latest skinimalism and watercolor makeup trend, he adds.

You can even skip base makeup when using this brightening primer for a no-makeup glow, Sara says. Another pro tip: “I love using a pump on top of makeup on the high points of the cheeks, chin, and forehead,” Sara shares. “Gently press it into your skin, then allow it to dry for a boost of radiance.”

It’s time to add Cloud Glow to your makeup bag. Grab a bottle and get ready to puff + prime your way to brighter skin.
