5 Ways To Switch Up Your Makeup for Spring

It’s officially spring, which means lots of sun (finally), picnics (hopefully), and laying in the grass (maybe). And while it’s a time of rebirth and rejuvenation in nature, it can also be a time of transition for all. With spring weather comes the possibility of changes, like graduating, moving, finding a new job, vacations, and really bad allergies. To keep you feelin’ good in the new season (or for prom, weddings, and beyond), we’ve created a few fresh and fun makeup ideas with makeup artist Alana Wright. We mixed a few of our fave MMU products to play with different textures and dreamy color palettes. Check out these sweet and easy springtime makeup moves below, then head to the park and go #LiveYourLook!

Pretty-In-Pink

Look to the blooming flowers for color inspo this season. Alana evened out Gal’s skin with hydrating Sunshine Skin Tint for weightless, buildable coverage and swiped bright and pearlescent Eye Pigment in After Party across Gal’s eyelids. Then, she finished off the look by gently dabbing Lip + Cheek in Werk on her lips and cheekbones for a monochromatic, petal-soft ethereal feel. Want to try this look at home? Alana suggests adding “a little Matte Bronzer for some depth,” and layering on Kush Mascara for high volume lashes that’ll seriously stand out against the dreamy pink palette.

Pastel Fever

Play with pastels! For this next-level look, Alana contrasted two bright colors by blending Eye Pigment in After Party across Monet’s eyelids and then lining Sesh along the creases of her eyes. To top off the look, Alana generously swiped flirty pink Lip Vinyl in Facts across Monet’s lips for a shimmering, high-gloss effect. You can create your own geometric makeup moment on your lids by mixing and matching creamy, long-lasting Eye Pigments. Use a brush dipped in Eye Pigment to create dynamic, colorful eyeliner along your lash line; a larger shadow brush is great for covering the surface area of your eyelids.

Werk It

Ever wanted to look like a modern-day cherub? Well, now you can! Alana created an updated take on a classic, romantic look by gently swiping Lip + Cheek in Werk, our brand-new dusty rose shade, on the apples and hollows of Gal’s cheeks. Then, she took a heavier-handed approach and blended Werk upwards with her fingertips to create a naturally flushed look. She amped up the romance by dabbing Lip Oil in Vibes on the plumpest part of Gal’s lips.

Grrrls Rule

Lip Color in Grrrrl is the perfect purple shade and works for everyone. “It’s a universal color that gives different-yet-beautiful payoffs for all complexions,” says Alana. The yummy plum shade is versatile and long-lasting. The color also takes on new life in layers, so pile it on to play up the intensity.

Give ‘Em Lip

For a great spring makeup statement, “a good bold lip and perfect lash can stand alone,” says Alana. And it’s true; a simple-yet-powerful lip color can do wonders to elevate an otherwise low-key look. To turn on the drama, Alana smoothed out Gal’s skin with ultra-hydrating Sunshine Skin Tint and medium-to-full coverage Flex Concealer. Next, she focused on the star of the show, a statement lip using Lip Color in Grrrl. Alana added coats for intensity. She then applied Kush Mascara for major volume and used the narrow brush tip to create an eyeliner effect along Gal’s lash line. Go get ‘em, Grrrrl.
